Product details
PT-141 Australia. PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide studied in laboratory research as a melanocortin-receptor agonist — an α-MSH analogue built on the same lactam scaffold as Melanotan II. The Elite AU Peptides PT-141 is independently HPLC-tested above 99% purity by Janoshik; the certificate of analysis is published on this page and in the lab-reports library, with the measured number and an independently verifiable Janoshik key.
Stocked and dispatched AU-domestic in a 10 mg lyophilised vial, AUD pricing. Every batch is held until the independent HPLC report comes back within our acceptance threshold; nothing is listed without a certificate on file. Supplied strictly for in-vitro and laboratory research use only — not for human or animal consumption, not a therapeutic good, not TGA-approved.

PT-141 (CAS 189691-06-3; molecular formula C50H68N14O10, average molecular weight ≈ 1025 g/mol) is a cyclic heptapeptide sharing the His-Phe-Arg-Trp α-MSH message core. Structurally it is Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH — the same lactam-bridged scaffold as Melanotan II, differing only at the C-terminus, which is a free carboxylic acid rather than an amide. It is the C-terminal-free-acid analogue of MT-2 (the two molecular formulas differ by exactly the amide-to-acid change).
In receptor and pathway research, PT-141 is characterised as a melanocortin-receptor agonist, described in the melanocortin-pharmacology literature as an agonist at melanocortin receptors including MC3R and MC4R (Molinoff and colleagues, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2003), with MC4R the principal receptor of research interest. It derives from the cyclic lactam α-melanotropin scaffold reported by Al-Obeidi and colleagues (Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1989) and is covered in the melanocortin-receptor pharmacology review of Shadiack and colleagues (Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2007).
PT-141 is used in research as a melanocortin-receptor reference ligand, distinguished from its MT-2 parent by the free-acid C-terminus. Its value in research is as a defined cyclic α-MSH analogue for melanocortin-receptor-pathway work.
The single amide-to-acid difference at the C-terminus separates PT-141 from Melanotan II while preserving the shared His-Phe-Arg-Trp message core, so the two are frequently compared in melanocortin-receptor research to probe how C-terminal chemistry affects receptor recognition and selectivity. MC4R — the principal receptor of research interest for this compound — is expressed predominantly in the central nervous system, which is why PT-141 is referenced in central-melanocortin-pathway research.
The information provided here is a research-reference summary only. Elite AU Peptides makes no medical, therapeutic, sexual-function, or human-use claim about this product. PT-141 is not supplied as a therapeutic good, is not TGA-approved for supply as a research reagent, and is supplied strictly for in-vitro and laboratory research use only. Researchers should consult the primary peer-reviewed literature for receptor-binding data and protocol-specific reference values.
Reconstitute the lyophilised PT-141 vial with bacteriostatic water for laboratory handling. The peptide is water-soluble; add the diluent slowly down the vial wall and swirl gently rather than shaking. A 10 mg vial reconstituted in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water yields a 5 mg/mL working stock — adjust to your protocol’s target concentration.
Store the lyophilised powder at −20°C, desiccated and protected from light; once reconstituted, store refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the documented research window, or aliquot and freeze to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Tamper-evident packaging; the batch label is the canonical reference for the certificate of analysis published in the lab-reports library.

- What is PT-141?
- PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide — an α-MSH analogue on the same lactam scaffold as Melanotan II — studied as a melanocortin-receptor agonist, with MC4R the principal receptor of research interest. Supplied strictly for in-vitro and laboratory research use only.
- How is PT-141 related to Melanotan II?
- PT-141 is the C-terminal-free-acid analogue of Melanotan II: the two share the identical cyclic lactam scaffold and differ only at the C-terminus (a free carboxylic acid on PT-141 versus an amide on Melanotan II). Both are studied as melanocortin-receptor research ligands.
- Is PT-141 TGA-approved in Australia?
- The product supplied here is not a TGA-approved therapeutic good; it is supplied strictly for in-vitro and laboratory research use only. We make no medical, sexual-function, or human-use claim about this product.
- Is this product third-party tested?
- Yes. Every batch is independently HPLC-tested by Janoshik, and the certificate of analysis is published on the lab-reports page.
- How should it be stored?
- Store the lyophilised powder at −20°C. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the documented research window.
- How is it shipped?
- Dispatched AU-domestic from Australia. Free shipping over $100; orders placed before 12pm AEST are dispatched the same business day.
- What does 'research use only' mean?
- All products are supplied for in-vitro / laboratory research use only. They are not for human or animal consumption, are not therapeutic goods, and are not TGA-approved.
