Peptide
A short chain of amino acids — the class of compound that research peptides belong to.
A peptide is a short chain of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. Research peptides are supplied as reference compounds for in-vitro study of receptor pharmacology, signalling pathways and biochemistry — distinct from ingestible peptide supplements or cosmetic peptide formulations, which are separate product categories.
Peptides are described by their amino-acid sequence and length: a tripeptide has three residues, a pentadecapeptide fifteen, and so on. Longer chains fold into more complex structures.
